We are in Shanghai

We made it! I can't get on blogger....it appears to be blocked. So I'm
posting using another method.

Right now I can't see your comments or moderate them (so that others
can see them) But please keep commenting
b/c we'll get them posted asap.

The flight was good. We were nervous with the quarantine health
officials coming on board but all went well.
We are very, very tired and looking forward to a good night's sleep.

We are so thankful to be here, be healthy, and some HUGE steps closer
to Elizabeth!

Good night from Shanghai!

  1. so glad you all made it there safely! I hope you all are able to get some good rest and prepare your hearts to meet Elizabeth. Praying that God is continuing to prepare her heart as well. Enjoy these precious moments before you meet her and soak it all in! Kristen

  3. so glad to read your posts. you are all on our minds and in our prayers. Graham, Davis and Corinne all spent the night last night. I took them to your Mom's today. She has all 6 kids. I was at Sloans. Anyway I asked them to be especially good and kind to your Mom. I reminded them that 6 kids could be overwhelming. They agreed, but Graham gave that little smile of his. I hope she survived. :). Can't wait to see pictures and read more.

  4. Shannon,
I hope you get this message....I tried to post earlier today and it didn't work. I am sorry I didn't get to talk to you before you left, but I have been following every word you have written online.
I was thinking about Elizabeth this morning...about how to her life looks the same...she has no idea that you are on your way to get her. Her life is about to take a turn for the better....she is about to be blessed in ways she could never have imagined or asked for by becoming part of your family...and she has no idea. There is nothing going on in her world at this moment to indicate that she is about to receive this blessing. This is how it is so often for all of us in terms of the blessings God has for our lives. Our circumstances look the same, but God is working in the background to orchestrate an amazing rescue mission and/or blessing. We have to have faith even when we can't see that anything is ever going to change ot get better, etc. God will move when He is ready and His timing is right. I'm not sure if I am making any sense, but I wanted to share this one of many parallels of God's love for all of us that are apparent in this story of your journey to get your precious daughter. God has sent you on a rescue mission....this is a task that was set for you and John before either of you were ever born. What an awesome privilege!!

I am praying for you all the time and I will be anxiously awaiting your updates! I love you!

  5. I am so thankful that you guys are there safely and safely off the plane. Enjoy this day, the sights and sounds---however; nothing will compare with the sight and sounds of Elizabeth!
As Sonya said, she has no idea about how, in a few hours, she is about to be blessed beyond description. Her life is about to be forever changed and filled with "bookoos" (that means a lot)of LOVE.

Speaking of love---I love you guys.

  6. I am so happy for you that you arrived in Shanghai safely. We did your same trip almost one year ago to adopt our daughter from Xiamen, Fujian. I will continue to pray for your family. jody in nc
